My son Rishabh (who has been a part of the Electric Chetak team for the last two and a half years) told me this morning that as per vehicle registration data for December, our electric scooter Chetak has now become the best selling electric scooter in the country. It has gone straight from third place to first place. In such a situation, there could not have been a better time to receive this award.”
ola vs shola
Rajiv Bajaj took a dig at Ola Electric and said, “Ola is Ola, Chetak is Shola.” This comment came at a time when ‘Ola Electric’ was the largest EV market sharer till November, but TVS Motor Company and Bajaj Auto have reduced this gap to a great extent.

In November, Ola Electric achieved 25.09 percent market share with 27,746 registrations. TVS stood second with 26,036 registrations (23.55 percent), and Bajaj Auto was third with 24,978 registrations (22.59 percent).
Three big achievements of Bajaj Auto-
Rajiv Bajaj spoke about the three main achievements of his company from the IBLA stage, which included hybrid bike manufacturing, the journey from local to global, and the company’s steps towards green energy. In the words of Rajiv Bajaj-
Hybrid Bike Manufacturing: The company transitioned from “value for money” scooters to high-tech motorcycles. This made Bajaj Auto the world’s most valuable two-three wheeler company in terms of market cap three years ago, and its position has strengthened further since then.
Local to global identity: Bajaj Auto moved away from dependence on the domestic market and started exporting its products to more than 100 countries. This is why the company calls itself “The World’s Favorite Indian” and represents India at every level.
Steps towards green energy: The company began efforts to move from fossil fuels to green energy. Its first step was with CNG three-wheelers, which has now reached electric two and three-wheelers. Recently Bajaj has launched the world’s first CNG two-wheeler ‘Bajaj Freedom 125’.
Rajiv Bajaj accepted the award on behalf of his team of 10,000 people and also recalled his two-decade-long association with CNBC-TV18. He jokingly said, “If I ever stand for the post of Prime Minister, I will tell CNBC-TV18 first.”
