Amid facing criticism over the NEET UG result mess and cancellation of UGC-NET exam, the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday postponed the joint CSIR-UGC-NET exam June 2024.
CSIR-UGC-NET, which was scheduled to be held between June 25 and June 27, was postponed due to unavoidable reasons.
“The exam is being postponed due to unavoidable circumstances and logistical issues,” NTA said in a press release.
It further said that the revised schedule for conducting this examination will be announced later through the official website.
NTA has advised the candidates to keep checking the official website https://csimnet.nta.ac.in for latest updates.
“For any queries or clarifications, candidates may call NTA Help Desk at 011-40759000 or 011-69227700 or write to NTA at csimet@nta.ac.in,” the release said.
This development comes just a day after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the future of students is the government’s priority. He said that a high-level committee will be formed to recommend on the structure, transparency, examination process, functioning and data security protocols of the NTA.
Pradhan also ruled out the possibility of cancelling NEET, saying it cannot jeopardise the careers of lakhs of students.
The UGC-NET exam held on June 18 was also cancelled as its integrity could have been compromised.
The results of the NEET-UG exam held on May 5 had also come under scrutiny after 67 students scored a perfect score of 720. Following this, the NTA is going to retest 1,563 students who got grace marks amid allegations of irregularities and paper leak. The retest will be held on June 23.
The exam will be held again at seven centres, including six new centres. The Chandigarh centre, where only two candidates will appear, will remain the same.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has refused to postpone the NEET-UG counselling process scheduled to begin on July 6.
