Due to the ongoing heat, many private schools in Noida and Ghaziabad have announced that summer vacations for students will begin this week. Some other schools have canceled all outdoor activities for students of higher classes as temperatures continue to rise. The Uttar Pradesh Education Department had issued a notification last week asking all primary schools to declare summer vacation from May 20 in view of the heat.
District school inspector (DIOS), Dharamveer Singh, told TOI that some schools have already declared holidays, especially for young students, to give them some respite from the heat. He said that these schools in Noida are likely to remain closed for a month and will reopen before June 15.
In view of these developments, Modern School principal Neeraj Awasthi told TOI that the school has announced summer vacation for all classes from May 17 and the vacations will last for at least 40 days.
Similarly, Bal Bharti School Principal Asha Prabhakar told the news portal that there will be summer vacation in all classes from May 13. This development comes at a time when summer vacation 2024 has been announced for all government and government-aided schools in Delhi. This year, Delhi schools will have 51 days of summer vacation, from Saturday, May 11 to Sunday, June 30. After the holidays, teachers will have to come to work for two days on June 28 and 29.
