This week, two educational institutions were inaugurated at Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex – Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School (NMAJS) and Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School Early Years Campus (NMAJS EYC) – ushering in an innovative and futuristic educational experience in the city.
Spread over a built-up area of 3 lakh sq ft, NMAJS will focus on primary and middle school education (classes 1-7), while the Early Years Campus spread across 30,000 sq ft will cater to preschool and kindergarten education. Dhirubhai Ambani International School (DAIS) also in BKC will continue to focus on high school education (classes 8-12). Together, the three institutions will provide holistic and future-ready education to over 1,000 students.
NMAJS Schools is conceived and spearheaded by Isha Ambani Piramal, Vice-Chairperson, NMAJS and an alumnus of Dhirubhai Ambani International School (DAIS). The NMAJS project reflects her ideas of creating an institution that can cater to the diverse needs and unique learning styles of students and inspire and encourage children to grow to their full potential.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Isha Ambani Piramal said, “I dreamed of creating a place that inspires all of us to be our collaborative and compassionate best, so that we can truly build a strong and open community with each other. The transparent architecture of the school is a testament to this. The spaces here are not just for learning – they are for growing together, sharing ideas, and becoming the best versions of ourselves. We can see the soul of our school in its design.”
Some of the distinctive features of the new campus include open, spacious, multipurpose and inspiring learning spaces; modern science and technology laboratories and other experiential learning facilities; creative arts studios; a green campus that incorporates sustainable features in the design; integration of digital technologies and equipment; and the safety and security of students and staff are given top priority. The school believes that these elements will contribute to the academic excellence, holistic development and well-being of the children.
Addressing the gathered students, Isha also emphasised the importance of nurturing enthusiasm, curiosity and values in children and developing them as lifelong learners. “At this new space, you will get a chance to collaborate, create and build incredible things with your friends and teachers. One of the most obvious features of this school is how transparent it is; when the walls are transparent, we get to live our values – in honesty, trust, respect and compassion. Children, no matter where the future takes you, the most important thing you will take with you from this place is the knowledge to learn and grow.”
Isha also spoke about how her mother Nita Ambani inspired her to devote herself to education. “From my mother, I learnt that the most satisfying work is that which makes a difference in someone’s life.”
Speaking on the occasion, Founder and Chairperson Nita Ambani said, “When we look back, we are proud that over the last two decades we have managed to build DAIS as a happy school that has always celebrated a culture of excellence and constantly reinvented itself as an innovative and visionary institution. Similarly, we are committed to building NMAJS as a timeless temple of learning.”
Students, parents, teachers and staff were present at the inauguration ceremony and their excitement was clearly visible as they toured the new campus and expressed their appreciation for its thoughtful design and extensive facilities.
As Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School embarks on its journey with new hopes and aspirations, it is set to transform itself into a modern educational edifice that will develop future generations into positive thinkers, creative individuals, productive contributors and visionary leaders.
