Nikhil Advani recently shared an interesting thing about shooting Kal Ho Na Ho with Shah Rukh Khan. Nikhil has directed John Abraham’s upcoming film – Veda.
Nikkhil Advani is all set for his two upcoming films – Veda and Freedom at Midnight. The filmmaker, who rose to fame with his musical romantic-drama film Kal Ho Naa Ho, recently recalled how Shah Rukh Khan called the film ‘rubbish’. In an interview to Galta Plus, Nikkhil Advani revealed how Shah Rukh used to compare Devdas to Kal Ho Naa Ho during the shoot. Nikhil King was talking about the actor’s habit of playfully criticising the film he is working on by comparing it with other projects. The Freedom at Midnight director said, “When we were doing Mohabbatein, Shah Rukh was doing Hey Ram. Shah Rukh has a habit of coming to meetings and saying that the film he is making with you is rubbish. You should watch another film. In Kal Ho Naa Ho, he said Devdas is fantastic, Kal Ho Naa Ho is rubbish. So, he has this habit.”
Nikhil Advani’s Bollywood debut
Nikhil made his directorial debut with Kal Ho Naa Ho, which also starred Preity Zinta, Saif Ali Khan, Jaya Bachchan, Sonali Bendre and others. The film went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of 2003. The filmmaker was an associate director on popular films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… (2001), Mohabbatein (2000) and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998).
Veda by Nikhil Advani
Nikhil’s next film is Veda. The film stars John Abraham, Sharvari, Abhishek Banerjee, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ashish Vidyarthi and Kshitij Chauhan in pivotal roles. The crime action-saga is produced by Zee Studios, Emme Entertainment and JA Entertainment. John has produced the film along with Umesh KR Bansal, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Meenakshi Das. Veda is scheduled to release on August 15, 2024.
Nikhil’s next production Freedom at Midnight is also expected to release in 2024. The first promo of the film was released recently which depicted the era of 1947 and the partition of India.
