Netflix’s ‘Sakamoto Days’ — which is set to release next year — breathes anime life into Yuto Suzuki’s hit action-packed manga.
Sakamoto’s glory days as the “greatest hitman of all time” are long gone. Though once feared by villains and admired by fellow hitmen, Taro Sakamoto has shed his assassin clothes after falling in love at first sight – resulting in marriage and fatherhood. Despite accepting the slow days of retirement as his new normal and being out of shape, he is armed with superhuman strength.
Bringing the pages of Yuto Suzuki’s action-packed hit manga to life, director Masaki Watanabe aims to capture the intensity and excitement of the original text with the upcoming Netflix anime, which will premiere worldwide in January 2025.
With episodes released weekly, the new anime series – a TMS Entertainment production – will feature the legendary main character who, despite undergoing a major change in the new calmer chapter of his life, will once again step into the fierce battlefield – this time to ensure a peaceful life with his beloved family. Together with his old comrades, he will once again raise his fists to put an end to the looming threat of the assassins and the chaos that follows.

As revealed through the anime’s new teaser released on July 31, the Netflix Original’s electrifyingly dynamic, fast-paced story also aligns with the manga’s comedic elements.
Director Watanabe said, “Our intention is to faithfully portray the character of Sakamoto, who is a family man and a killer who doesn’t kill. Our staff is giving it their all, so stay tuned!”
