Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday announced that the revised final results of the NEET-UG 2024 exam will be released within the next two days. The revision has been done following the Supreme Court’s direction to withdraw the compensatory marks given to some students for a physics question.
The NTA had earlier awarded additional marks due to an error in an old Class 12 NCERT Science textbook.
In a major setback to NEET-UG 2024 aspirants, the Supreme Court dismissed petitions seeking cancellation of the controversial exam and re-examination. The court found no evidence of “systemic violations” affecting the integrity of the exam.
The scorecards were revised after the NTA re-conducted the exam for 1,563 candidates. Around 24 lakh students appeared for the NEET-UG 2024 exam held on May 5 at 4,750 centres, aiming to take admission to MBBS, BDS and other medical courses.
The decision comes as a relief to the NDA government and the NTA, which were facing severe criticism and protests on the streets and in Parliament over alleged large-scale irregularities like question paper leak, cheating and impersonation in the prestigious examination held on May 5.
