Sources said on Monday that the Ministry of Education is organizing a series of meetings with District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police from all states and center areas, to ensure that the upcoming medical entrance examination is not a brunt in NEET-UG.
Important examination has been scheduled on 4 May. It will be held in more than 550 cities and more than 5,000 centers across the country.
The Ministry is working on a foolish proof plan following alleged irregularities in the previous year’s examination, including paper leaks, which has placed the examination integrity under the scanner.
A source told PTI, “To ensure the smooth, fair and safe conduct of NEET-UG, a series of meetings with DM and SPS of all states and UTS have been organized. District-level coordination committees are being fully activated to manage logistics, security and crisis reaction.”
The source said, “In addition to the safety nominated by the NTA in the centers, the district police will have multi -level fringing. Transport of confidential materials like question papers and OMR sheets will be under full police escort. Coaching centers and digital platforms will be monitored to monitor the organized cheat network to prevent the network.”
Duty Magistrates are being deployed for compulsory inspection of all examination centers, while DMS and SP will have individual visits to examination centers to assess preparations.
On the line of fire on alleged irregularities in NEET-UG and PhD entry nets, the Center last year established a panel to ensure transparent, smooth and proper conduct of examinations by the NTA.
While NEET-UG was under scanner on many irregularities, including alleged leaks, UGC-NET (University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test) was canceled as the Ministry received an input that its integrity was compromised.
Both cases are being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Two other examinations-CSIR-ign NET and NEET-PG-were canceled as a pre–move step at the last moment.
