NEET-UG exam case: A day after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested two people in connection with the NEET-UG paper leak probe, two more people, including the Hazaribagh district coordinator in Jharkhand, were arrested on June 28, news agency reported. PTI,
According to information, CBI officials have arrested the principal and vice principal of Oasis School in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. The principal has been identified as Ehsanul Haque, who was made the city coordinator of Hazaribagh for the medical entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 5.
CBI officials said that Vice Principal Imtiyaz Alam has been appointed as the observer of NTA. They said that they are questioning five more people from the district in the paper leak case.
According to the CBI, the accused came under the scanner during the investigation by the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police, who had recovered burnt question papers of NEET-UG during a raid at a hideout of the solver gang.
The EOU claimed in the statement that the ‘leaked’ NEET-UG question paper was allegedly obtained by the notorious Sanjeev Kumar alias Lutan Mukhiya gang from Oasis School in Hazaribagh.
However, they could not ascertain who was behind the alleged paper leak.
The accused arrested on June 27 in Patna, Bihar include Manish Kumar and Ashutosh Kumar. The CBI had registered six FIRs in the NEET paper leak case. The CBI has taken over one case each in Bihar and Gujarat and three in Rajasthan.
The NTA conducts the NEET-UG exam for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions across India. In 2024, the NTA conducted the exam on May 5 at 4,750 centres in 571 cities, including 14 overseas, with over 23 lakh candidates appearing for it.
The CBI on Sunday registered its first FIR after the Union Education Ministry announced that it would hand over the probe into alleged irregularities in the conduct of the examination to the CBI.
