Before becoming a ‘reality TV star’, Neelam was a popular face in Bollywood. For over a decade, the actor has appeared in some highly successful films and successfully worked with Govinda and Chunky Pandey. But to the younger generation, she is best known as one of the girls from Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. How is season 3 different
The third season of Fabulous Lives (now named Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives) brings back the OG cast – Neelam, Bhavana Pandey, Maheep Kapoor and Seema Sajdeh along with three new faces – Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Kalyani Saha Chawla. , and Shalini Pasi. Talking about the changed dynamics, Neelam says, “It’s crazy. There’s a lot of chilli masala in it, it’s a riot. Given that the three new players are from Delhi, the show also explores the Delhi-Mumbai rivalry. Neelam says, “One of the reasons I got into films was because I wanted to live in Mumbai. So, I mean, you get it. I’m a hardcore Mumbai girl, Bombay girl.”
Fabulous Lives is now a popular show, garnering more attention every season, but Neelam says she wasn’t always confident about its success. Recalling a time while shooting season one, she tells us, “One day when the four of us were shooting, we were sitting in a living room, and we were just talking and talking, And I was like, ‘Wait a second, who actually wants to hear all this?’ This is actually the brainchild of Karan Johar. He kept assuring us that, girls, you have no idea how big this is going to be because India has never seen a show like this. Have done.”
Fabulous Lives is relevant
The actor attributes the show’s success to its relevance. “Anything related to Bollywood definitely grabs people’s attention, you know? And I also consider the fact that four of us, we’re not 20-years-old, we’re not teenagers, we’re into real things.” We’re talking about our lives, our kids and life in general, which I think many women can relate to now, so it’s very relevant,” she says. Neelam started acting in 1984 and said goodbye to films by 2001. Many young audiences have never seen his films, not even on TV or OTT. But she is happy that she has now got her work through Fabulous Lives. “It’s interesting because now young people are looking at me. They know who I am. These little girls message me. Neelam Aunty, what do you do for your hair? On returning to acting
Neelam also made a comeback to acting after 20 years when she appeared in an episode of Season 2 of Made in Heaven last year. Of her return she says, “I think I was made for it. I found it very easy. I was more comfortable working in reality than I was because, really, I could see myself, Neelam, there. So there are times when I come to my senses, and I feel a little uncomfortable because I’m really putting my life and my thoughts out there because it’s a reality show.”
But she says she is taking her time taking on more acting roles because she feels they are more in demand. “When you’re acting, I find that there’s only so much you can do because you have to dedicate all your time and your space. Because it’s so demanding of your time. So the fact is that I Doing, you know, many things. I find it a little difficult,” she says.
“I am still (open to acting), but I haven’t found the kind of roles where I can dedicate my time. I haven’t found anything interesting. My focus is on my business. My daughter is 11 years old. That’s my priority, right now,” says Neelam.
