National Council of Vocational Education and Training has notified guidelines for training of evaluators to strengthen the vocational training and skills ecosystem.
The National Council of Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) said the guidelines aim to create a standardized model and provide a standard operating procedure (SOP) to address the concern of inadequately trained evaluators in the skills ecosystem.
Assessors Training is a specialized training program for professionals and industry experts to train assessors in the vocational skills sector to conduct competency-based assessment of students for a given course or job role, aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF). The guidelines define the eligibility criteria and minimum qualifications required for appraisers. It also specifies the expected training requirements of the students or learners in terms of procedures, knowledge, testing and management skills.
“These guidelines aim to create a robust standardized and scalable model and provide standard operating procedures (SOPs) to address the concern of inadequately trained evaluators in the skills ecosystem,” NCVET said.
An assessor plays a vital role in the entire process of skills assessment and ensures that trainees meet the required occupational standards to achieve their qualification.
NCVET comes under the administrative control of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
