On August 14, NCERT introduced a special module for schools to celebrate the frightening day of Partition. The purpose of this module is to educate students about the reasons behind partition and identify those responsible for it.

The module credits accountability for three important figures: Mohammad Ali Jinnah, who demanded Pakistan; The Congress, which, agreed to the partition given the circumstances; And Lord Mountbatten, who accelerated the process.

According to the module, Jinnah continuously pushed for a separate country, while Congress leaders Nehru and Patel chose to accept Partition. The rapid formality of the division of mountbatten is criticized to increase the chaos and violence. The module clarifies that the partition was not unavoidable, but resulted in misguided ideas and specific circumstances.

Mountbatten intensified the British return by setting the partition date on August 15, 1947 instead of June 1948. Their haste increased chaos and violence, with millions of uncertain about the condition of their villages with an incomplete plan of the Redcliff Line. The module clearly credits this negligence to the tragedy of partition.

The effects of partitions affect socio-political relations, including Pakistan, Kashmir dispute, stress, increase in defense costs, and distrust between two major communities.

Modules describe division as “unprecedented human tragedy, in which there is no parallel in world history.” They document massive murders, displacement of about 1.5 million people, large -scale sexual violence, and refugee trains, which are “filled with corpses only, which is slaughtered by the route.” ANI reported that dreaded incidents in Nokhali, Calcutta, Rawalpindi, Thoha and Bevel have been cited as chilling examples.

The secondary phase module highlighted the lack of experience of Indian leaders in handling national or provincial administration, army and police. “None of the Indian leaders had no experience of running national or even provincial administration, army, police, etc., therefore, they had no idea of large -scale problems that originate naturally … otherwise, not such a hurry,” tells it.

The module recognizes the direct action day of the Muslim League in August 1946 as a significant twist point, as well as with violence. Jinnah’s warning accepted Congress leaders Nehru and Patel for partition.

The secondary module directly connects challenges with permanent challenges including Kashmir conflict, communal politics and external pressure on India’s foreign policy. It notes its subsequent policy of exporting three wars of Pakistan and the results of partition to Jihadi terrorism to enacted Kashmir.

This repeats the roles of Jinnah, Congress and Mountbatten in the partition process. Mountbatten’s role in furthering the transfer of power has been exposed as a careless act that left millions of people uncertain about his national affiliation even after Independence Day.

The modules finish the division as a warning for future generations. It insisted that the rulers may have shortsity, can give rise to national destruction and concessions for violence in search of peace can embrace violence-affected groups.

The new module has shaken a line. Congress leader Sandeep Dixit challenged the BJP to discuss the partition. “… I challenge NCERT for a discussion on partition. Today, he (BJP) is NCERT under his control; they do not know anything about partition,” he told ANI.

While party spokesperson Pawan Khera said, “Burn the document as it does not tell the truth. The connivance between the Hindu Mahasaba and the Muslim League led to the partition.” He further said, “The RSS is a threat to this nation. The idea of partition was first promoted by the Hindu Mahasabha in 1938. It was repeated by Jinnah in 1940.”
