Screen time is ruining your eyes? Fight back with these 4 yoga hacks!
Yoga can be beneficial to maintain healthy vision by relieving eye stress, improvement in blood circulation in the eye and reducing stress, which can contribute to vision problems. In an interview with HT lifestyle, Himalaya Siddha Akhar, founder of Akshar Yoga Center, recommended some yoga pose and practices that can help support vision –
1. Palming:
Close your eyes and sit comfortably. Rub your palms together until they feel hot. Then, cup your palms gently on your closed eyes without applying pressure. Relax and breathe deeply for a few minutes, allowing your palms to allow heat to calm your eyes.

2. Eye exercises:
Many simple eye exercises can help improve the focus and strengthen the eye muscles. An example is an “eye rotation” exercise, where you are slowly rotated in a circular motion, first clockwise and then leftover. Another exercise is “close and focus on near and distant”, where you are optional between a distant to focus on the nearby object and improve flexibility and attention.
3. Blinking:
The eyelid is a natural way to lubricate the eyes and prevent dryness. However, many people nap less frequently when staring or focusing on the screen. Take a brake throughout the day to a conscious eyelid and relax the muscles of your eyes.

4. Tratak:
TRATAK is a yogic practice of constantly staring at one point, such as a lamp flame, or a black point on a wall. This practice helps in improving concentration and focusing while pleasing the eyes. Start sitting in a comfortable position and watch the selected object in a blink of an eye as long as you can. When your eyes start for water or feel stressful, close them and imagine an object in your mind.
