Sky watchers are eagerly waiting for the ‘Parade of Planets’ on June 3. However, due to the presence of the rising Sun and Moon, it will be difficult to see the complete alignment of the planets. To help people enjoy the Planetary Alignment 2024 to the fullest, NASA has shared some tips to watch the celestial event.
In a recent post on X, NASA suggested that sky watchers look for the reddish planet Mars between Saturn and the thin crescent moon. With the help of binoculars, people can also see several other planets in the sky on the morning of June 3.
“You may have heard of the “parade of planets” on June 3. Keep in mind that most of them will be either too close to the rising sun or too faint to be seen. But look for reddish Mars between Saturn and the thin crescent Moon.”
Enhance your experience with binoculars
The US space agency said that only the Moon, Mars and Saturn will be visible to the naked eye on June 3. To see other stars and planets, skywatchers will need binoculars as most of them will be lost in the glare of the rising Sun.
“Yes, the Moon, Mars and Saturn will all be easily visible. There will also be several other planets in the sky that morning, which is why it’s getting some attention. Still, other planets will only be visible with binoculars or will be mostly lost in the glare of the rising Sun,” NASA responded to a user question.
