The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)’s spacecraft traveling outside the solar system – Voyager 1 – is in trouble, as it is not able to send any science data to Earth as it continues its journey beyond the solar system.
NASA said in an update that engineers are still working to resolve the data issue on Voyager 1.

“We can talk to the spacecraft, and it can hear us, but it’s a slow process given the spacecraft’s incredible distance from Earth,” the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) said. The spacecraft holds the record as the most distant man-made object ever discovered. ,
According to India Today According to the report, the problem is with one of Voyager 1’s three onboard computers, called the Flight Data System (FDS). It helps NASA receive and execute commands sent from Earth.
However, NASA said the FDS was not communicating properly with a subsystem of the probe, called the Telemetry Modulation Unit (TMU). This led to a halt in science operations and no science or engineering data being sent back to Earth.
The FDS is designed to collect science instruments as well as engineering data about the health and condition of the spacecraft. Next, the FDS combines the information into a single data “package” as binary numbers of ones and zeros to be sent back to Earth by the TMU.
According to NASA, this problem occurred in December last year and the problem persists even after the team tried to restart the FDS and return it to the same state as before the problem started. Sadly, the spacecraft is still not returning usable data.

Launched on September 5, 1977, by NASA to study the outer planets in the Solar System, Voyager 1 provided unprecedented insight into Jupiter and Saturn. The iconic image, the “Pale Blue Dot”, became popular thanks to Voyager 1’s capture of Earth from record distance in 1990.
In 2012, Voyager-1 officially entered interstellar space, becoming the first man-made object to do so. It continues its journey in space, providing valuable information.
