Moscow. The death toll in the terrorist attack on a concert hall located on the outskirts of Russia’s capital Moscow has increased to 143. Russian President Vladimir Putin urged the international community to stand with Russia and promised on Saturday that he will definitely punish the perpetrators of this cowardly attack.
Putin, 71, said in a televised address to the nation that the four gunmen directly involved in the attack were heading towards Russia’s border with Ukraine. The President said, ‘We will investigate this terrorist attack and we already have some results. All four criminals directly involved in shooting people have been traced and arrested.
Putin said, ‘They tried to escape… They were moving towards the border of Ukraine and we have data, which shows that they were going to go to the territory of Ukraine. Our investigators are working to identify the perpetrators of this attack.

On the other hand, Kiev said that it had “nothing to do” with this attack. He described the attack as the result of Russian “provocation” and claimed that Moscow’s special services were behind it. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Putin of trying to “blame” Kiev for the Moscow concert hall attack in a social media post. Zelensky said, ‘What happened yesterday in Moscow is clearly the result of Putin’s provocation.’

There are 11 suspects in the custody of the Russian police, including four gunmen who were directly involved in carrying out this heinous attack. Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, saying its fighters attacked “a large gathering” on the outskirts of Moscow and safely returned to their bases.

However, the Russian President said, ‘We know what a terrorist threat means, this is an attack against Russia and we hope that other countries that share our pain will cooperate with us.’ Recently re-elected Putin said, ‘We will remain united against this common enemy, these terrorists have no nationality and there is only one future for them – revenge.’

Putin said, ‘At the moment our common duty is to stand together, to remain united… And I believe that if we stand together, no one can divide us, no one can weaken our common strength.’ He said that Russia has to face many challenges. Its history has always come forward strongly.
Earlier, Russian security agency – Federal Security Service (FSB) had said that the attackers were driving towards the border. The FSB said, ‘After carrying out the terrorist attack, the criminals intended to cross the Russian-Ukrainian border and had appropriate contacts with the Ukrainian people.’ (With IANS inputs)
