Tripura, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said on Friday that the state government has appointed more than 5,000 teachers in the last seven years.
The Chief Minister, who also keeps education portfolio, said this while addressing the state-level teachers’ day program.
He said, “The state government has recruited 19,800 employees of various categories during the last seven years, of which 5,215 teachers. The government wants to recruit quality teachers to provide quality education in government schools”, he said.
Saha said that steps have been taken to reduce the dearness allowance difference between state government employees and central government employees.
While the employees of the Tripura government get 33 percent da, central government employees get 55 percent da.
He said, “I have issued 29 percent DA in the government workforce as Chief Minister in my 29 -month tenure. We are trying to reduce the difference between the employees of the state government and central government employees. There is no need to organize the movement to get the pending DA”, he said.
Saying that the government is trying to convert the northeastern state into an educational center, the Chief Minister said that the initiative has been taken to raise the Women’s College in a full state university for women.
He said, “We have taken steps for women, especially for a university. You will soon get positive news. Three more general degree colleges will be established in ambassador, taxbook and Kakarban.”
Saha said that the number of MBBS seats in the state will increase from 400 to 500, in which the Health and Family Welfare Department is working on the scheme.
Currently, there are 400 MBBS seats in three medical colleges in the state.
Saha said, the government is considering how to regularize the ad hoc of government officials and employees.
He said, “I have already held meetings with legal experts on how to regularize the ad hoc promotion of government officials and employees. You will get positive results soon”, he said.
