New Delhi. Gaza’s Health Ministry said on Thursday that more than 30 thousand Palestinians have died since the Israel-Hamas war started five months ago.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas-led extremists attacked southern Israel. 1200 people were killed in this attack, mostly civilians, while he took 250 people hostage. After this, the worst violence ever started between Israel and Palestine.
Israel responded to the attack on its country with a deadly and destructive military operation. Due to the war, about 80 percent of Gaza’s population of 2.3 million has been displaced from their homes and UN officials say that a quarter of the population is struggling with starvation. Gaza’s Health Ministry said 30,035 people have died and 70,457 have been injured since the start of the war.
The health ministry of Hamas-ruled Gaza keeps detailed records of casualties. Casualty figures reported by the ministry during previous wars were largely consistent with figures from the United Nations and independent experts.
The ministry does not distinguish between civilians and combatants in its casualty count, but said about two-thirds of the dead were women and children. He also said that the actual number of dead is much higher because many bodies are buried under the debris of buildings and health workers have not been able to reach them.
Israel has pledged to continue the war until Hamas’s military and governance capabilities are destroyed and more than 100 hostages are released.
