Milind Soman and wife Ankita Konwar, who often go on fitness-themed breaks to the most beautiful places, made no exception with the holiday for their wedding anniversary!
This April, on the completion of six years of being together, the two flew to Paris and celebrated their love by running 42 kilometers barefoot.
“It was crazy fun! This is definitely one of the toughest marathons I have ever done,” says Ankita, as Milind puts it, “tough, challenging and exciting!” He elaborated, “There was a huge shared energy between the thousands and thousands of people who have challenged their minds and bodies on this 42 km route; Not in some unknown higher power, but like a huge wave of faith and belief in yourself. It’s an amazing, exciting feeling. We always celebrate our anniversaries with some fun challenge, either a trek or a marathon or diving in an exotic sea. And we have four anniversaries a year! Running the Paris Marathon was a serendipitous decision, plus Ankita had never been to Paris, so this was it for our sixth wedding anniversary!”
Ankita adds, “These are the best kind of memories for us, where we go through a challenge together to achieve something.”
finding the vibe
Each moment was special as they passed iconic Paris landmarks, starting with the Arc de Triomphe on the Champs-Élysées, the Place de la Concorde, the Obelisk, Notre-Dame and the Eiffel Tower. “Paris is incredibly beautiful,” he admits. It’s not just the boulevards, the avenues and the architecture, but also something else, something in the air, a vibrancy in Paris.

For now, there are plans for French food, art and museum visits and, soon, another trip. “Ankita wants to run the 21-km route between Nice in the south of France and Monte Carlo in Monaco,” he concluded.
