According to the report of the Indian Express, it was a luxury car, but after just six months, many problems started in it. Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission ruled in this matter and asked the company to give huge compensation.
Manufacturing defect in car
Gurvinder told that the car started problems only after walking only 9,000 km. There were many problems such as the bulge in the rear tire, the sudden stop of the car, the failure of radar sensor, the malfunction in the sensor and the strange sound from the AC blower. Even after taking the workshop several times, these problems were not cured. The commission noticed that these problems started within six months of purchasing and continued till today, even though the company tried to fix it several times.
Commission dismisses arguments
A fine of so much crore rupees
In compensation, the price of the car was included in the price of 1.55 crore, 3.1 lakhs of insurance and road tax, 1.55 lakhs of tax collected at source and 60 months interest on loan of 60 months. Apart from this, the company was asked to pay 5 lakhs for mental troubles and Rs 50,000 for the cost of the lawsuit. Overall, a compensation of Rs 1.78 crore is made.
This case is a lesson for those who buy expensive vehicles. Even after giving such a price, if there is a problem in the car, the consumer court can help you. A big company like Mercedes also has to accept rules. If you are also thinking of buying a luxury car, or you have a luxury car and it gets spoiled in a few months, first document the problem of the car. Every time you go to the service center, the details of the repair, date, and what was corrected, keep the record of it.
If the company does not give a satisfactory answer, then complain in the consumer court. You can file a case in Delhi, District or State Consumer Forum. In the complaint, you can ask for compensation for the price, insurance, tax, loan interest, and mental problems.
