Vladimir Putin will arrive in New Delhi in the Aurus Senate, the official presidential state car of Russia, for his two-day visit to India.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will arrive in New Delhi on Thursday for a two-day state visit from December 4 to 5, 2025, which will be his first visit to India in four years, and naturally, he aims to arrive in style. His car of choice is the Aurus Senate Limousine, which is the official presidential car of Russia and arguably one of the most intimidating luxury vehicles. If ever there were a James Bond villain who preferred diplomatic summits rather than rooftop chases, this would be his ride.
Aurus Senate: Russia’s Rolling Fortress
Putin’s Aurus Senate is a stretched, heavily armored version of the limousine developed by Aurus Motors in Moscow. Inspired by the Soviet-era ZIS-110, the Senate features an old-school limousine style with a modern level of fortifications that can potentially survive meteorites. Powered by a 4.4-litre V8 engine under the hood, it produces 598 bhp and 880 Nm of torque, while an 850-bhp V12 is available from the manufacturer for those days when global politics require more horsepower.
The India Connection
This is not the first time we see the Senate in the Indian context. At the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Putin reportedly spent more than an hour inside a car, possibly discussing geopolitics.
But the limo has been in the public eye many times before, and not for good reason. Putin gifted two different models to Kim Jong Un in 2024, a gesture that raised eyebrows globally as it goes against UN sanctions on North Korea.

What is the Aurus Motors?
Aurus Motors itself is a relatively young company having been founded as a state limousine manufacturer in 2018 before opening to the public in 2021. Today, its ultra-luxury models are owned by a handful of world leaders, including Turkmenistan’s Serdar and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.

two day agenda
During the visit, Putin and Prime Minister Modi are set to hold wide-ranging talks as part of the 23rd India-Russia annual summit. But for automobile enthusiasts, the big headline could be the rare chance to see the Aurus Senate racing on Indian roads, a limousine so serious that it makes most luxury cars look like curious interns.
