In a recent interview, designer Masaba Gupta opened up about how self-care has become ‘more important than ever’ for her since she became pregnant.
Fashion designer Masaba Gupta is expecting her first child with actor Satyadeep Misra. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she discussed how self-care becomes important during pregnancy, claiming she finds solace in Vikram Seth’s 100 mandalas and a translation of the Hanuman Chalisa. ‘I take very good care of my stomach’
The publication wrote that ‘self-care has become paramount for Masaba’, who ‘finds solace in Vikram Seth’s 100 mandalas and the translation of the Hanuman Chalisa’ as it ‘keeps her grounded after long workdays’.
Masaba also revealed how she has become very conscious about her diet, to the point where she even distances herself from people who don’t encourage her. “I take care of my skin and stomach. I am also very conscious about my diet. I have distanced myself from people who don’t encourage me and now I spend time with people who give positive encouragement,” she said. She also claimed that she has a system in place that allows her to ‘stay away from work when she needs to’ without ‘feeling guilty’.
The designer also spoke about how people view pregnancy and motherhood negatively. She said she wanted to challenge this notion, adding, “People often say, ‘Oh my god, your life will change once you have a baby,’ but they say it in a negative way. The whole purpose of having children is to embrace change.”
Masaba Gupta’s opinion on body pimples
Masaba had shared her experience of body acne on her Instagram stories in June this year. She also wrote about how she has started to turn it into a positive one and named it ‘baby kisses’.
She wrote, “During pregnancy I’ve been getting new body pimples every two weeks that leave scars. I used to be bothered by them but now I’ve named them ‘baby kisses’. Maybe it’s a reminder of the newness of creation. But if you’re going through something similar, hormones can be running rampant. You’re not alone (red heart emoji).”
Masaba made her acting debut with the Netflix show Masaba Masaba and also starred in Prime Video’s anthology series Modern Love: Mumbai.
