The MPV segment in India has seen stable sales in May 2025 in May 2025 due to increasing consumer preference for utility vehicles. While the SUV dominates the overall passenger vehicle sales chart, MPV is also getting a strong growing footprint. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga remained the top-bound model in this segment, followed by Toyota Innova and Kia Cares in second and third place.

Due to its popularity in both private buyers and fleet segments, Bestseling MPV in India, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga registered 16,140 units last month, with an increase of more than 13,893 units (YOY) from the 13,893 units sold in May last year. In April this year, MPV sold 15,780 units, resulting in an increase of two percent months (MOM) last month.
Toyota Innova (Hycross + Crysta)
Toyota Innova Hycross and Toyota Innova Crysta are also widely sold in both private and fleet segments. Joint, two MPVs sold 8,882 units last month, sold from 7,699 units sold in April this year and 8,548 units in May last year. This Toyota Innova was translated to an increase in mother sales by 15 percent, while Yoy sales increased by four percent. Toyota Innova Badded MPVs recorded the highest increase in monthly sales in May 2025.
The third place in the chart was Kia Carrence, which had registered 4,524 units last month, lodged below 5,259 units sold in April this year and 5,316 units recorded in May 2024. This means that Kia Carrence recorded a decline in sales of 14 percent mother and in May this year, 15 percent YOY sales declined.
Maruti Suzuki XL6, Ertiga’s upmarket recurrence, sold through the Nexa Premium Retail Network, sold 3,507 units last month. It was below the MPV 4,140 to 15 percent sold in April 2025, while the 3,241 units recorded in May 2024 increased its YOY sales by eight percent.
Maruti Suzuki Invito is the second model in this segment. It sold 223 units last month, marginally above the 201 units sold in the previous month. This translates the development of 11 percent mother for models. A year ago, 193 units recorded in the same month, the sales of INVTO had increased by 16 percent last month.
