Dermatologist shares 5 skin care solutions to prevent dullness and early aging

Therefore it becomes necessary to identify a simple routine. HT Lifestyle spoke to Dr Khushboo Jha, Chief Dermatologist, Consultant Metro Hospital and Founder, One Skin Clinic, who shared 5 solutions that help prevent dullness and early ageing.

One of the most common skin issues that many people face is premature aging, with concerns ranging from dullness to fine lines. But the dermatologist clarified that this is not always due to bad genes, but is sometimes a result of small daily habits. When you make improvements, you get closer to your healthy skin goal.

1. Daily sunscreen, even indoors

The first practice the dermatologist urged people to make non-negotiable is to wear sunscreen, calling it the most powerful anti-aging protection there is.
,Exposure to UV rays can lead to pigmentation, fine lines and even breakouts on the skin,” she revealed while revealing what the consequences could be if you don’t apply sunscreen regularly. Dr. Jha recommends broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Apply every morning, no matter the weather. He stressed that even indoors, especially if you work near windows or use screens for long periods of time, sunscreen is still essential. After every 3-4 hours when going out, look for changes in skin tone and texture.

The dermatologist highlighted the importance of the common mantra ‘less is more’ when it comes to skin care. He urged people to avoid using excessive amounts of active ingredients on the skin, as this usually causes irritation, rashes and barrier damage. Instead, Dr. Jha suggests a simple but effective routine: a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen in the morning, and a targeted treatment (like retinol or acne treatments) at night if needed.

3. Keep skin barrier health a priority

If your skin barrier is damaged, the health of your skin is also compromised. Dr. Jha said that due to this, a person can suffer from lethargy, sensitivity, acne and premature aging. This usually involves using harsh cleansers, excessive exfoliation and changing products frequently.

Instead he recommended. “Choose products with ceramides, glycerin, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide to strengthen and repair your skin”

This step is more preventative, aimed at preventing major skin-related problems such as scars, pigmentation and uneven texture. Dr. Jha explains that by treating acne early and seeking professional help, you can avoid these major long-term problems.
