The central government is considering various locations to identify the place to set up a memorial for former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who died on December 26, 2024, at the age of 92. The government is also in touch with the family of Dr. Manmohan Singh. Finalize the location for his memorial.
According to sources quoted by news agency PTI, Central Public Works Department (CPWD) officials visited the sites around the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial at the National Memorial and identified some places where a memorial can be built.
Sources have also said that the government is discussing three or four options with Manmohan Singh’s family to build his memorial. Sources said no site has been finalized yet and everything will be done in consultation with Manmohan Singh’s family.

Manmohan Singh, often called the architect of India’s economic reforms, died at the age of 92 due to age-related complications. Congress criticized the government for performing his last rites at Nigambodh Ghat. There was also a heated argument between BJP and Congress regarding cremation and establishment of the memorial.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, while presiding over the 50th anniversary celebrations of Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration on Wednesday, January 1, said that the institute will be renamed after former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
