Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge gave a sharp reply to PM Modi’s taunt during the debate on the Constitution on Monday. Speaking during a discussion on ’75 years of glorious journey of the Constitution of India’, Kharge said, “…those who did not fight for the country, how will they know the importance of independence and the Constitution?”
“…The Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) was teaching us a lesson and said that we lie but the number one liar is the Prime Minister. It was said that 15 lakhs will come but nothing has come…these people are misleading the country and cheating the people by telling lies…the Prime Minister should have told what he has done in the last 11 years to strengthen the Constitution …” Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge added.
Kharge said, “BJP is giving ‘jumlas’ to fool the people of the country and is blaming Congress for it.” He said, “PM’s devotion is taking the country towards dictatorship, democracy should not turn into dictatorship.”
Furthermore, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge stressed that everyone should follow the Constitution and its Preamble.
“Merely pointing fingers at each other will not help. Jana Sangh once aimed to structure the Constitution on the basis of the laws of Manusmriti. This was the intention of RSS. Those who despise the Tricolor, Ashoka Chakra and the Constitution are now preaching to us.” Kharge said.
He said, “On the day the Constitution came into force, these people burnt the effigies of Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru at Ramlila Maidan. They insult the Nehru-Gandhi family without shame.”
Mallikarjun Kharge said in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, the debate in the Constituent Assembly shows that former RSS leaders were against the Constitution. Kharge said, “Those who hated the flag, Ashoka Chakra and the Constitution, are teaching us the lesson of the Constitution today.”
He also said that BJP is against reservation, hence they are against caste census.
