The former Defense Minister said that Maldives has been given priority in the ‘NeighBourhood First’ Vision of the Modi government and Maldives should also adopt the ‘India First’ policy in the same way. He appealed to the Maldives government to explain the importance of India to the public and respond to the propaganda -backed propaganda.
Didi said, ‘The new building of the Ministry of Defense is built with the help of India and it was a project started during my tenure. It is a symbol of our defense cooperation. He said that when the government of the current President Muhammad Mujju came to power, the distance from India increased and an atmosphere of fear was created. But now the President has understood what national interests are.

He targeted China without naming and said that ‘our strategic thinking, maritime security, struggle against terrorism and stability in the Indian Ocean are like India. In such a situation, we should further strengthen our relations with India.
Heat in the relationship of India-Maldives coming again
Maria Didi said that Prime Minister Modi’s visit is an indication that India-Maldives relationships are returning to the old turn again. ‘Our past, culture, food, democracy and political ideology are the same. In such a situation, the two countries should together further this partnership.
He also added that President Mujju himself should come forward and tell the public how important India is for Maldives. This can prevent campaigns like ‘India out’, which damage the country’s image.
