Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: In a significant political change, Shaina NC, a key spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has been included in the third list of Shiv Sena candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. She will contest from Mumbai’s Mumbadevi seat, a stronghold of the Congress party.
- Entering politics in 2004, Shaina joined the NC BJP, where she served as national spokesperson, member of the National Executive Council and treasurer of the Maharashtra unit of the BJP.
- She is also recognized for her social initiatives through charity fashion shows and two NGOs: ‘I Love Mumbai’ and ‘Giants Welfare Foundation’.
- Shaina NC had won the Guinness Book of World Records for draping a saree in fifty-four different ways. This was handled by Dolly Jain, who now holds the world record for draping the saree in 325 styles.
Maharashtra elections: Mumbadevi contest
In Mumbadevi constituency, Shaina NC will face sitting Congress MLA Amin Patel, who has represented the constituency since 2009. While Shaina NC has switched parties, she is associated with the Mahayuti alliance for the November 20 elections.
Maharashtra elections: Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena announces third list
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who leads the Shiv Sena, announced the latest list of candidates, which includes Sanjana Jadhav, daughter of former Union minister and BJP leader Raosaheb Danve. Jadhav will contest from Kannada in Aurangabad district, which is currently held by Udayasingh Rajput of former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT).
The third list of candidates was released just before the nomination deadline, with Shiv Sena part of the ruling Mahayuti alliance, which includes the BJP and the NCP led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Of the 15 seats declared, two have been allotted to the BJP-led NDA’s regional allies, Janasurajya Paksha and Rajarshi Shahu Vikas Aghadi.
As the state prepares for crucial elections, Shaina NC’s entry into the fray marks a notable development in Maharashtra’s political landscape. Voting for the 288-member assembly will be held on November 20, the results of which will be declared three days later.
