District Magistrate Visakh ji Iyer announced that all government and private schools in Lucknow would be closed from class 1 to 12 due to heavy rains and bad weather.

After heavy rains and adverse weather conditions in many parts of Uttar Pradesh, including the state capital, all government and private schools in Lucknow will remain closed on 1 to 12, Thursday, August 14. This announcement was made by District Magistrate Visakh ji Iyer.
The administration said that it was decided to ensure the safety of the students, as the frequent decline has disrupted serious waterfalls in many areas and transport services across the city.
Lucknow DM Visakh ji Iyer said, “In view of bad weather and rain conditions in some parts of the state, all government and non-government schools from class 1 to 12 will remain closed in Lucknow today.”
According to the Meteorological Department of India (IMD), Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, North Madhya Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh are expected to have intense rainfall in the beginning of Thursday. Most areas are predicted to light to moderate rainfall, with separate pockets and medium to moderate rainfall with the national capital region in Delhi.
A red warning has been issued for some parts of Telangana, including Vikarabad and Sangardi, where extremely heavy rainfall is estimated. There is an orange warning for Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and some areas of Assam.
In Uttar Pradesh, IMD said on Wednesday that the monsoon activity is expected to intensify in the next 48 hours due to the formation of low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal.
The IMD said, “The system has inspired to move the eastern end of the monsoon trough to the south, possibly bringing wide light into moderate rains, with very heavy rains, with very heavy rains in most parts of the state, with very heavy rains,” IMD said.
