Love Bombing: How to understand that you are a victim of ‘Love Bombing’! Identify in time, otherwise you will regret later

Only three months had passed since Reena’s marriage. Before marriage, Rahul used to praise her all the time, give expensive gifts and say, “I will keep you on my eyelids.” Reena felt that she had found the perfect husband. But after marriage the situation started changing.

Isolating you from others – Such people often say, “Your friends don’t deserve you” or “Your family doesn’t understand me.” The aim is to make you alone so that you depend only on them. This is a huge red flag that should not be ignored.

Sudden change in behavior – The person who was happy about everything in the beginning, gradually becomes angry, suspicious and controlling. There is less love and more taunts. You start feeling guilty for everything. This is the dangerous turn of love bombing.

Why is love bombing done? Often insecure or narcissistic people do this. They do not want equality in relationships, but strength. By showing too much love, they trap the other person and then start controlling him/her as per their wish.

How to recognize and protect yourself? If the relationship is getting too deep too quickly, take a break. Pay attention to your feelings, whether you are happy or feeling suffocated. Get advice from your friends and family. Create clear boundaries and be alert if the other person does not respect them.

How to get out of such a relationship? First of all accept the truth that this is not love, it is manipulation. Don’t blame yourself. Gradually create distance and if necessary end contact completely. Take help from trusted people and a counselor if needed. Remember, true love gives freedom, not fear.
