Leeds University and Delhi University have signed an MoU to increase cooperation in research, education and exchange to strengthen their global partnership.

Taking a significant step further in promoting international educational relations, Leeds University (UOL) and Delhi University (DU) have signed a memorandum (MoU) to deepen cooperation in research, education and educational capacity building.
The partnership formalize an ongoing relationship, especially operated by the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Leeds, which has been engaged through faculty travels and collaborative educational initiatives with DU in the last two years.
An attraction of this cooperation was a joint workshop on Social Science Research methods held in Delhi in April 2025. The program brought scholars and emerging researchers of the two universities together and served as an important platform for interdisciplinary dialogues.
Under the MoU, both institutions plan to cooperate on joint research projects, faculty and student exchange programs, educational conferences and resources and expertise sharing. The agreement emphasizes shared values such as inclusion, innovation and global engagement, focusing on strengthening knowledge production and educational excellence through the same partnership.
Speaking on new cooperation, Professor Sheer West, Vice Chancellor and President of Leeds University, said: “Our partnership with Delhi University underlines our vision for being a globally associated university. This MoU not only enhances our international appearance, but also supports socially relevant research and leads both of us academic experiences.
Echoing similar feelings, Professor Yogesh Singh, Vice Chancellor of Delhi University, said: “This MoU represents a meaningful opportunity to expand our educational outreach and create long -term research cooperation. We believe that such international coalitions play an important role in giving innovation and excellence in higher education.”

It is aligned with the MOU Leeds’ global engagement strategy, which recognizes India as a major partner nation. For DU, the agreement supports its widespread goals of expanding global partnerships, enhancing research capabilities and promoting internationalization of its educational ecosystem.
Under this agreement, further updates on specific joint programs and initiatives are expected in the coming months.
