Telecom regulator TRAI has suggested to the government that fixed line users will also have to dial the number of 10 marks to make local calls. This means that the number of your landline phone will also be of 10 digits like mobile.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recommended a new numbering system related to abolishing STD code system to free unused phone numbers. The new number system will be at a telecom circle or state level. TRAI with minimum disruption with telecom identifier (TI) resources or phone number obstructions effective It is recommended to bring the plan.

Number will be dial by applying zero
TRAI has also talked about creating telecom circle or license service sector. The telecom circle or licensed service sector (LSA) generally refers to the state-level region or large metropolitan area. TRAI has said in a recommendation sent to the government that to implement LSA-based 10-unknown number for fixed-line service customers, they have to dial all fixed-line calls from all fixed-line calls first by putting ‘zero’. After that SDCA or STD code and then customer number will have to be placed.

Put zero for local calls too
According to the regulator, the number should be dialed using ‘zero’ to make local calls within the short distance area (SDCA), followed by SDCA code and customer number. ‘ TRAI has also said that there should be no change in the existing phone numbers issued to customers. TRAI has asked the Department of Telecommunications to give six months time to telecom service providers to implement the new numbering scheme.

Inactive numbers will be closed soon
On the use of numbers which have been inactive due to non-use, TRAI has said that telecom companies will not deactivate any mobile or fixed-line connection until that number is used for 90 days. All mobile and fixed-line connections that remain inactive due to non-use should be compulsorily inactivated 365 days after the 90-day period has passed. TRAI has not recommended any additional fee or financial discouragement on numbering resources at this stage. The regulator has once again said that the Department of Telecommunications should implement the system showing the name of the collar faster.
