Lakshmi Manchu remembers being touched inappropriately at age 15
Lakshmi said in the interview that she was in tenth grade and only 15 years old when she experienced abuse for the first time. She told how, being the daughter of Mohan Babu, she usually accompanied the driver, bodyguard and her mother to school. However, the school once took him on public transport to collect the hall ticket. She remembers feeling excited.
Unfortunately, Lakshmi says that some people touched her inappropriately on the way. The actor said, “The violation I faced…what is this ugly feeling? I was 15 years old then. I don’t know if they knew I was a little kid. I walked away and didn’t get into fights. I shared it with my girlfriends, and they said it happened to them too. I wasn’t chosen as a special girl for this to happen. It happens to everyone.”
Breakdown during MeToo movement
Lakshmi also mentioned in the interview that, unfortunately, such cases are so common that if a girl who has ever been on public transport says that she has not encountered this, then “she is lying.” The actor mentioned that she “fell down crying” during the MeToo movement because everything mentioned in the information sheet released by the Women’s Commission happened to her.
“When you’re from a big family, sometimes people want to mess with you because we’re not going to come out and say it. My house gets burglarized, and I can’t come out and say it. Come on Go 15,000, this is how I was brought up. Be careful with your stuff, but if it gets out, you don’t want to expose your name unnecessarily,” she explained.
