Kunal Khemu is not sure whether audiences should take the portrayal of alpha male heroes in films like Kabir Singh and Animal seriously or not. In a new interview on Raj Shamani’s YouTube channel, the actor said that in reality if someone practices such ‘selective alpha’ qualities, he would be beaten up and put in jail. What did Kunal say?
Speaking about the portrayal of alpha male heroes, Kunal said, “There is no point in saying right or wrong, because you are talking about a human tendency and trait… You are a society, you try. Do you want such a band? When you are slapped on the first day, on the fourth day you will say that you will call the main police. Usko bhi samajh aa jayega aapko bhi samajh ajayga (There’s no point in terming it as right or wrong. You are sensible, try it out. You want such a guy? When he will slap you for three days, you will file a police complaint on the fourth day. Both of you will know what’s the deal).
‘Become a true alpha’
Kunal further said that when he was watching Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal he also felt like he was killing someone because that’s what cinema does, it makes one feel strong emotions. “Become an alpha in the true sense of the word. It’s very easy to sit here today and say ‘I want to be a selective alpha.’ Do all the work. Or if you want to be selective, live life. See where this goes. Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal remained undefeated at the ticket counters, despite many blaming the film for toxic masculinity, violence and misogyny. Apart from Ranbir, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol were in important roles in the film.
