An animated film based on a story by director Maggi Kang, KPOP demon hunters, has become the most viewed English-language film of Netflix so far, racking 236 million views and crossing the previous record-holder, red notice, including Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Renolds and Gal Gadot.
Director Kang sequel talks about details
According to the variety, Netflix and Sony are already in the initial conversation for the sequel of the hit film. While no official confirmation has been made, co-director Maggi Kang, who helped the project with Chris APLES, has expressed a strong interest in continuing the story first.
“We have installed a lot of potential backstory. There are still many unanswered questions and unexplained areas. We had to catch back because we have to be so fit in the 85 -minute film.”
The KPOP demon is a member of Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Ji-Young Yoo), K-POP Group Hunter/X, who secretly doubles as demon hunters. When his greatest supernatural rival (Lee Buwing-Hun) makes a boy band to steal the souls of his fans, Trio should fight to save both his followers and their friendship. A singing version of the film began on 23 August and 24 in American theaters, which opened at number 1 at the box office.
Who are the voices behind it?
The film features a voice by Aridene Cho, Ahan Hio-Saop, Men Hong, G-Yang Yo, Unisin Kim, Daniel de Kim, Kane Jong and Lee Buwing-Hun. The KPOP demon Hunters premiered on Netflix on 20 June, with a limited dramatic release at the end of August along with the singing version.
