Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), the technology arm of the state general education department, has introduced a comprehensive annual maintenance contract (AMC) for 1,85,114 hi-tech equipment in government and aided schools across Kerala.
This move ensures smooth functioning of these devices, which are essential for effective digital education.
The AMC, launched on Sunday, covers 79,571 hi-tech equipment installed in 11,226 primary and upper primary schools under the Hi-Tech Lab project implemented in 2019, an official statement said here.
Similarly, 62,677 laptops and 42,866 projectors installed during the period 2018-19 in government and aided high schools, higher secondary and vocational higher secondary schools are under AMC from April 2023.
KITE CEO K Anwar Sadath said school principals should lodge any complaints related to hardware on the new portal — www.kite.kerala.gov.in/support.
Sellers will be penalised if the complaints are not attended to or resolved within the stipulated time, the statement said.
Apart from this, KITE has also launched insurance coverage for losses caused by natural calamities, theft, etc. in addition to AMC. The KITE statement further said that this is the largest AMC/insurance plan for IT equipment in India.
A recent IT audit conducted by KITE revealed that 806 laptops (1.43 per cent) and 187 projectors (0.77 per cent) were lost or permanently damaged after the completion of the five-year warranty. These devices will be used for hardware clinics, he said.
