Elumalai, 54, died after falling 20 feet from the stage on the sets of PS Mithran’s Karthi-starrer Sardar 2. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Actor Karthi paid tribute to the stuntman who died on the sets of his upcoming film Sardar 2, directed by PS Mithran. Sun News shared a video of the actor visiting the family of 54-year-old stuntman Elumalai in Chennai on Wednesday evening. Karthi pays tribute
The TV channel shared the video on X (formerly Twitter) and wrote in Tamil, “Actor Karthi visits the mortal remains of stuntman Elumalai, who died after falling from a height of 20 feet during the shooting of Sardar-2.” In the video, Karthi is seen standing in front of the family with folded hands and looking grief-stricken. Later, he also interacted with Elumalai’s family members, holding their hands and expressing condolences.
Elumalai’s sudden death
Sardaar 2 was being shot at LV Prasad Studios in Saligramam, Chennai. Elumalai fell off the stage on July 16 and was rushed to the hospital. He died at 11:30 pm due to internal bleeding. The shooting was halted and production house Prince Pictures confirmed the news on social media.
They released a statement which read, “He (Elumalai) was rushed to the nearest multi-speciality hospital where he was treated by a team of doctors. However, on July 16, 2024, at around 11.30 pm, despite intensive medical treatment, Shri Elumalai unfortunately passed away. Our entire team offers our heartfelt condolences to the family of Shri Elumalai and we stand with them in this hour of grief.”
sardaar 2 shooting
Sardar 2 was officially launched with a pooja ceremony on July 12, which was attended by Mithran and Karthi. Karthi’s father, actor Sivakumar, also attended the event. The shooting of the film began on July 15 in Chennai. The film is a sequel to Mithran and Karthi’s 2022 film Sardar, a spy thriller in which the actor appeared in a double role.
