Kali Puja: Importance
According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Kali is one of the ‘Ten Mahavidyas’ – ten Hindu goddesses who symbolize aspects of cosmic wisdom and power.
Goddess Kali – who is also another form of Goddess Durga – is worshiped as the ultimate incarnation of Shakti, and devotees believe that worshiping her drives away fears and negative influences.
It is also believed that worshiping Goddess Kali helps in reducing the inauspicious effects of planets like Rahu, Ketu and Saturn.
Kali puja method
On this day, devotees offer fruits, sweets, khichdi, kheer and fried vegetables to the goddess as ‘bhog’ or ‘prasad’. Devotees observe fast from morning till evening and also eat flowers.
On this day, many Tantric practitioners pray to Goddess Kali in a Tantric way, as it is believed that the blessings of Mahakali can fulfill the desires faster.
