Bollywood is celebrating Halloween this year with a series of horror comedies. After the success of Munjya, Aditya Sarpotdar is coming up with another horror comedy starring Sonakshi Sinha, Riteish Deshmukh and Saqib Saleem. The trailer of Kakuda was released on July 2 and it takes a dig at Stree and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Sonakshi-Ritesh’s film ‘Kakuda’ is based on the backdrop of a haunted village
The trailer begins with the haunted village of Ratodi, where each house has two doors: a big one and a small one. The smaller door is for a ghost named Kakuda. Saqib’s character Sunny falls deeply in love with Indira, played by Sonakshi. They get married and begin a new chapter in Ratodi village. However, their love story takes a surprising turn when they are faced with a curse from Kakuda. On their wedding night, at 7:15 pm, Sunny forgot to open the small door for Kakuda, inadvertently invoking the evil spirit. This tormented ghost is known to curse the head of the house as punishment, causing a hump to grow on their back until the thirteenth day. Sunny’s life is in danger
Riteish Deshmukh turns ghost hunter
Known for his comic timing, Ritesh is seen making fun of the dancing and singing ghosts (a reference to Manjulika from Bhool Bhulaiyaa) as well as the female spirit that people write about on their walls (Stree’s tagline). In between the scary and twisty moments, Ritesh keeps on using his one-liners.
‘Kakuda’ is Sonakshi’s second release of 2024 after Akshay Kumar-Tiger Shroff starrer ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’. However, this film is Ritesh and Saqib’s first release of the year. Ronnie Screwvala has produced this horror-comedy.
Kakuda will release on 5 July 2024 on ZEE5.
