My name South Korean media outlet TV Chosun reported on September 2 that actress Han So Hee’s mother has been arrested for running an illegal gambling den.
The 50-year-old woman identified as Ms Shin already has a strained relationship with her daughter due to her involvement in multiple fraud cases. Adding to her pile of dirty identities, Han So Hee’s mother was detained on Monday, marking her second arrest since 2021 for her alleged involvement with 12 illegal gambling establishments in the South Korean cities of Ulsan, Wonju and others.
The accused woman allegedly used “proxy owners” to run these locations, where patrons played games such as baccarat by accessing a gambling website operated by her.

Ms. Shin’s reputation has already been tarnished by her name, as she has dragged her daughter’s name into a previous fraud involving hundreds of millions of won. In March 2022, still The star’s agency, 9ato Entertainment, released a statement claiming that Han So Hee “had no plans to take responsibility for her mother’s debt.”

Her agency’s previous statement was a response to the lovely actress being dragged into her mother’s troubles, as she was dealing with a lawsuit for violating the Electronic Financial Transactions Act. The K-drama star was on the verge of infamy because her mother used an account in her name to take out a loan of 40 million won.
Several years ago, Han So Hee spoke about this issue and explained that she is no longer in contact with her mother, so she only found out about her debt after she turned 20.
She also claimed that before her debut in the acting industry, she tried to pay off her mother’s debt by working elsewhere. It was only after her debut that she discovered that her mother had borrowed money using her name. Han So Hee also admitted in her apology that the huge sums her mother owed to the victims were so large that she could not afford them alone.
