JNUSU pointed out that the arbitrary decision to replace the PhD entrance exam with NET score will drive away a lot of students, especially those from marginalized sections, from research and close the doors of universities to many.
The Joint Secretary of UGC had replied that they would hold an internal meeting on these points. It was also pointed out that universities have the autonomy to conduct their own entrance examinations.
JNUSU will meet the Director of Admissions on April 29 and demand that the PhD entrance exam for this year and beyond should be conducted through JNUEE.
