Jammu and Kashmir Budget 2025: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday presented the first budget of the central region, which announced a host of measures to empower youth and women, address regional inequalities and work towards restoration of the state.
“This budget emphasizes the inclusive development, fiscal discretion and strategic investment in infrastructure, agriculture, industry, healthcare, education and digital rule. We are focusing on promoting business -friendly environment to reduce regional inequalities, empower youth and women and attract investment and innovation, ”Abdullah said.
Abdullah mentioned that Jammu and Kashmir are on the path of permanent peace.
This was the first budget to be presented by the elected government in the last seven years.
He said, “This budget is more than only one financial description – it is a roadmap for a new and rich Jammu and Kashmir, which reflects the aspirations of our people and laying a strong base for economic development, social progress and sustainable development,” he said.
Here are the major points of Jammu and Kashmir budget 2025:
815 crores for agriculture
Abdullah allotted 815 crore for agriculture, which will empower the state. The Chief Minister said UT would focus on horticulture, promote two-crop patterns, and promote wool processing and leather tanning industry.
“For 2024-25, 815 crore has been allocated, which targets adding double the price, increasing the increase by 11%, generating 2.88 lakh jobs and setting 19,000 enterprises, ”he said.
Tourism development
Another major area of focus was tourism development, under which Abdullah was allocated 390.20 crores. The government plans to increase homestay, promote water sports and develop Son Marg as a winter sports destination. Jammu will get a new water park in Sidhara, and Basholi will be developed as a adventure destination.
National law university
A National Law University will be developed in Jammu and Kashmir, which proposes Abdullah 50 crore budget for project.
Marriage aid scheme
Under marriage aid scheme, grant 50,000 has been increased 75,000, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir said.
Lakhpati Didi
Abdullah said that under the Lakhpati Didi scheme, the government of Jammu and Kashmir will provide assistance to 40,000 women.
Other important decisions
Abdullah proposed free electricity to 200 units to all AI families in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that 98 water test laboratories will be set up in J&K this year.
“The government is committed to maintaining the freedom of the journalist. We are committed to strengthening the press infrastructure and protecting journalists’ rights. We will provide a dedicated place to journalists in Jammu and Kashmir Press Clubs, ”he said.
His budget speech proposed a zero stamp duty on property transfer to blood relatives.
