Jharkhand: special water preparations for wild animals

Pala Tiger Reserve: The Palamu Tiger Reserve is spread over 1144 square kilometers, where the department has made special preparations for the water of wild animals. Here, animals keep getting fresh water throughout the day with modern facilities, due to which they take bath as well as bathing.

In fact, the only park in Jharkhand Betla National Park remains a hot spot for tourists in summer, where tourists from far and wide come. In summer, a special scheme of the forest department is going on to provide water to wild animals, due to which the animals get fresh and cold water throughout the day.

Water is available from tanker
Prajesh Kant Jaina, deputy director of Palamu Tiger Reserve, told Local 18 that the entire Palamu Tiger Reserve is spread over 1144 square kilometers, where many types of wild animals live. This area is affected by drought, so many efforts are being made to provide water to wild animals here. Initially, wild animals have been getting water from natural drains for a long time. At the same time, water traps made in other areas including Betla are filled with tankers.

Solar pump facility in the forest
There are semented water traps in many areas including Betla, with which Dobha is connected. Fresh water comes out of the solar pump throughout the day, which overflows and goes from cemented tub to Dobha. Wild animals take bath and drink there. In this way, wild animals get fresh water throughout the day.

Ready to store drain water
Further informed that a comprehensive catchment management program is going on in this area, under which a detailed survey has started. After this, further works will be done. The program mainly focuses on storing the water of natural drains of the Palamu Tiger Reserve region. Since these drains remain drought for 6 months in a year, preparations are being made to provide their water to wild animals. In this, a catchment structure will be built from the hill to the valley, in which the water of these drains will be stored. With this, these drains will live throughout the year and their water will be preserved.

250 water traps in Palamu Tiger Reserve
He informed that about 250 water tubs have been built in the entire Palamu Tiger Reserve. About 150 of this are in Betla. The rest are built in other areas. Betla has more number of wild animals, so more cemented tubs are made here, which are filled through tanker or solar pumps.
