Champai Soren on Wednesday submitted his resignation to Governor CP Radhakrishnan at the Raj Bhawan in Ranchi, paving the way for Hemant Soren to take over as the next chief minister of Jharkhand. After submitting his resignation to the governor, Champai Soren said that he has resigned from the post of Jharkhand chief minister after the coalition took a unanimous decision to elect Hemant Soren as the leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) legislative party.
Champai Soren told the media outside the Raj Bhavan, “A few days ago I was made the Chief Minister and I got the responsibility of the state. After Hemant Soren returned, our alliance took this decision and we chose Hemant Soren as our leader. Now I have resigned from the post of Chief Minister.”
Earlier reports said that Champai Soren felt “humiliated” when the decision to remove Hemant Soren was taken during the meeting. However, he clarified that he had resigned voluntarily.
He said, “We all know what happened to Hemant Soren and he was forced to resign. However, our alliance is strong and we have changed the leadership today. Hemant Soren has been elected the leader of the alliance’s legislative party and I have voluntarily resigned.”

According to reports, Hemant Soren has reached Raj Bhavan to show his strength and stake claim to form the next government. If he is invited, Hemant Soren will become the 13th Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
After staking claim to form the government in Jharkhand, Hemant Soren said, ‘CM [Champai Soren] “We have told you everything. We will tell you everything in detail. We have followed all the procedures.”
On Wednesday, July 3, Hemant Soren was elected leader of the legislative party after a consensus was reached among the MLAs and leaders of the JMM, Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) alliance.
Jharkhand Tiger Champai Soren was elected the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on February 2. Hemant Soren resigned before his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case linked to a land scam. Five months later, Hemant Soren got bail, leading to his release from jail on June 28.
