Now it’s the turn of our five-foot edgy goth queen, Jenna Ortega, to stun us, Beetlejuice The press tour for Beetlejuice is underway, and clearly, our girl and her longtime stylist, Enrique Melendez are taking it very seriously.

The Wednesday star is known for her goth-girl aesthetic, with her stunning looks at numerous red-carpet events, including the Met Gala, and she slays every time, without missing a beat! The star-studded cast of the sequel to the original 1988 film Beetlejuice, including Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Michael Keaton and, of course, Jenna Ortega, kicked off the press tour in Mexico, and are making their rounds in NYC. For Tim Burton’s latest film, Ortega has opted to pay subtle homage to the original 1988 film and its characters, wearing custom pieces from labels like Vivienne Westwood and Thom Browne.
The Beetlejuice aesthetic is all about the dark-romantic, gothic fashion vibe popularized by the original film’s costume designer Aggie Guerard Rodgers Burton. Jenna Ortega, who plays Astrid Deetz, the misunderstood teenage daughter of Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz, furthered the sartorial mood, going heavy on the pinstripes, structured corsets, and black-and-white monotones. Cobweb Mini Dress
Jenna Ortega officially kicked off the press tour in Mexico City on August 13 wearing a vintage midi dress by Vivienne Westwood that featured black pleather details reminiscent of slithering eels, and cobweb-like organza draping, reminiscent of Beetlejuice’s underworld hideout. In addition, the dress was paired with custom snakeskin platform Mary-Janes by Steve Madden, inspired by a snake from the original film.

For a fan event in Mexico City on Aug. 14, the actress chose a strapless, teal leather dress from Lurline that featured a molded skull bodice and skirt with braided details. “The leather corset and skirt feature subtle bob shrunken head details, with draped waves that mimic the character’s wrinkled appearance,” said Lurline founders Sarah and Siham Albinali.
Wednesday-inspired outfit
On Aug. 17, Ortega impersonated Morticia Addams and strolled the streets of New York City in a black pinstriped skirt suit by Dolce & Gabbana, reminiscent of her work on Netflix’s Wednesday.

Refreshing memories of the 80s
Keeping the pinstripes intact, Jenna decided to rock New York once again, in a grey and black Vivienne Westwood corset skirt and matching cropped tuxedo jacket. Sheer, striped tights brought the whole ensemble together, giving it an 80s spin.
Remembering 1988 Beetlejuice
Recreating Lydia Deetz’s iconic look from the original movie, in which Winona Ryder dances to Harry Belafonte’s “Jump in the Line,” Ortega wore a custom Thom Browne long-sleeve, cropped navy cardigan, paired with a green plaid, pleated midi-skirt. Furthering the Easter eggs, the outfit was accessorized with a brown top-handle bag that read, “Handbag for the Recently Died,” which references the “Handbook of the Recently Died” from the 1988 original.

Beetlejuice The Beetlejuice star appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show on August 19 in a custom Dion Lee ensemble inspired by her Fall 2024 collection. The outfit included a glove-sleeve corset top embellished with silver chains and a matching mini-skirt, again giving off a spider web vibe.
Tim Burton’s highly anticipated Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which follows the Deetz family’s return to Winter River, hits theaters on September 6, starring Jenna Ortega, Michael Keaton, Catherine O’Hara, Geena Davis and Winona Ryder. Jenna Ortega is also filming the second season of the Netflix show, Wednesday, in which she will play Wednesday Addams, as well as serving as one of the show’s producers.
