Sharing his recent weight loss journey, Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley Deford, said he used to be a “550-pound zombie.” However, now that he has been put to work, the American rapper and singer has naturally lost about 140 pounds. The 40-year-old “Winning Streak” artist has found new motivation to lose another 100 pounds in the new year. Highlighting how slowness still bothers her when walking, Roll commented, “I’m still morbidly obese. But I will lose weight.”
On December 16, the singer came to join his wife Bunny EXO’s podcast “Dumb Blonde”, where he proudly announced how he is investing in his well-being by setting the issue of weight loss as a priority.

While Hollywood and many high-profile celebs have turned back to Ozempic, the dramatic change of role was driven by natural factors. “We’re not against Ozempic or anything like that,” Jelly Roll said. “Every doctor I’ve talked to is for it. He said that this helps. I was just afraid of it.”
Why Jelly Roll Was Against Taking Ozempic For Weight Loss Changes
Rolle’s fears about Ozempic were linked to its well-documented side effect of acid reflux. “As a singer, few things scare me more than acid reflux,” he said. Like, you’ll see me get out of bed, I’ll burp and panic and get up and go get something for this. You know? Because that thing will break the vocal cords.
Rolle emphasized how as a singer he “can’t afford acid reflux”. “I want to make it clear that I did it naturally, but it was not out of stubbornness or trying to prove a point. If it helps you, get it. But for me, I was just scared of the side effects,” he confessed during the podcast outing. According to the Cleveland Clinic, “Acid reflux occurs when stomach juices (including acid) rise from your stomach into your esophagus (swallowing tube).” As a result, symptoms often affect the person’s lower esophagus. People who suffer from laryngopharyngeal or LPR, a specific type of acid reflux, are more likely to develop it in their voice box and throat.
Jelly Roll Weight Loss Goals
Candidly admitting that although he has lagged behind on his workout regime since returning from the Beautifully Broken Tour, Deford is set on a future weight loss goal: “I want to be on the cover of Men’s Health by March 2026 “
Estimating that he has lost about 140 pounds so far, he joked, “He’s a human being. I lost a perfect human being.”

Struggling with food addiction in public
Jelly was also candid about keeping her transformational journey public for a reason. He further added, “I want to be honest with people about my struggles. I wore it for so long. I think people who are as big as I am feel embarrassed when they lose weight. They’re so embarrassed that they hide away and lose weight, and then they come back and they don’t really know how to interact with the world looking different or feeling different. He further said that he wanted to lose weight “in front of everyone” and “bring people together.”
Taking a tough stance on his “food addiction”, he said, “I felt like calling food something that you could get addicted to was so unfair to real addicts, because I’ve seen people give up their lives for heroin. Have seen fighting for.” , But I’ve seen people fight for their lives in their own bodies.” Eventually he discovered the same bad patterns toward drugs or alcohol that developed with food.
