Lyricist, screenwriter and poet Javed Akhtar had expressed his critical comments on Taliban Minister Amir Khan Muttaki’s recent visit to India and the “respect and welcome” he received during his visit. More information
For those unaware, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaki in New Delhi on Friday – the first high-level interaction between the two countries since the Taliban seized power in Kabul in 2021 following the withdrawal of US troops. Her first press conference in India also met with massive backlash over the boycott of women journalists and a new press conference was called two days later with over a dozen women journalists. Muttaki had earlier called the absence of women at the conference a “technical issue”.
