What is the ranking methodology?
According to LinkedIn, these rankings are determined by “methodology that carefully analyzes the career outcomes of millions of MBA alumni globally.”
A press release issued by LinkedIn in this regard states that the methodology of the top MBA programs is based exclusively on LinkedIn data and five key pillars. These are as follows:
- job placement: Tracking recruitment rates and labour market demand, measuring the percentage of recent graduate cohorts from 2019-2023 who secured a full-time job in the same year of graduation, in addition to reaching out to recruiters in recent cohorts at each programme.
- Measuring Promotion Rates: The ability to measure promotion rates among recent graduates, in addition to how quickly alumni have risen to director or vice president level leadership roles.
- Network power: Analyzing network depth, or how connected alumni of the same program are to one another, the network quality of recent graduate cohorts, measured by ties to director-level professionals or higher, and the network growth rate of recent cohorts since starting the program.
- Leadership Ability: Measuring the percentage of alumni with C-suite or entrepreneurial experience post-MBA.
- gender diversity: Measuring gender equality in a group of recently graduated students.
eligibility criteria:
- To be ranked by LinkedIn, the MBA programs offered by business schools must be full-time and accredited by AACSB or EQUIS.
- The program must have at least 1,500 alumni, at least 400 of whom graduated in the most recent cohort (2019-2023).

Neerajita Banerjee, Senior Managing Editor and Career Expert, LinkedIn News India, highlights that an MBA can be a powerful tool for professionals looking to accelerate their careers, whether it be leadership roles, exploring new industries, or even starting their own business.
“In addition to earning a degree, it’s a chance to hone critical skills like strategic thinking, leadership and problem solving — as well as build relationships that can open doors to new opportunities long after graduation,” he said.
Meanwhile, Nirajita also explained how professionals pursuing an MBA can enhance their career prospects:
- Network, network, network. Meet as many people as you can, attend school events, and build your LinkedIn network as you go (adding people as you meet them).
- Hone your core human skills – teamwork, collaboration, communication. Business school is all about team projects, giving you a great chance to develop your leadership and collaboration skills.
- Start posting on LinkedIn about any business topics you learn during your courses and case study exercises that you are passionate about. This can help you grow your network and build your brand.
- Think about what you would like to do after your MBA. If you have a role in mind, look at the skills required for that role and make sure you are building those skills during the program and addressing them in your studies.
- Participate in club events, pitch events, and case competitions. These are great opportunities to develop your presentation and persuasion skills, and doing well at these events can be a big boost to your standing when applying for a job or starting a new company.
- Look for internships, jobs, or campus leadership roles during your program that can help you build stronger job prospects as you get closer to graduation.
