“This is still on the table,” Deputy Foreign Minister of International Affairs Kazam Garibabadi told reporters on Wednesday.
If Iran was understood to be in violation of the agreement, the United Nations Security Council could restore comprehensive restrictions through the process known as “Snapback”.
“I am confident that if Snapback is triggered, Iran will not show much restraint in this regard,” said Chilababadi.
Gharibabadi said that Tehran has not taken any decision to withdraw from the treaty, which tries to stop the spread of nuclear weapons by preventing members from acquiring them.
Iran is ready to interact with the UK, France and Germany – three European parties for the 2015 nuclear deal – on Friday, when they threatened to restore international sanctions through the snapback process.
Once triggering, the Snapback mechanism – which is due to the end in October – allows for 30 days interaction before restoring restrictions.
French External Affairs Minister Jean-Noel Barot announced the possibility of resumption of sanctions by the end of August last week, if Iran fails to reach the deal limiting its nuclear program.
Meanwhile, Gharibabadi said that Iran has agreed to allow a technical team in the country in the coming weeks. While the IAEA team will not visit the nuclear sites of the country, they will discuss “a new look” in their relationship, they said.
