Ahead of International Women’s Day, the British Council has partnered with UK universities to launch the British Council Scholarships for Women in STEM programmes.
The scholarships are designed for female STEM graduates wishing to pursue Masters studies in the UK, according to a press release issued by the council, which added that 25 scholarships are reserved for female STEM scholars from India and other South Asian countries.
The scholarships are available at five UK higher education institutions – Queen Mary University of London, Anglia Ruskin University, Greenwich University, The University of Southampton and Coventry University.
According to the release, the scholarship aims to empower female scholars to pursue their careers in STEM while also facilitating their ability to promote research and innovation in their country of origin by exposing them to the expertise of UK STEM fields. have to make.
Additionally, the scholarship will cover tuition fees, stipend, travel costs, visa, health coverage fees and English language support.
Beneficiaries can pursue courses like Data Science, Computer Science, Pharmaceutical Science, Electronic and Electrical Engineering and others.

More than 300 scholarships have been awarded since 2020, the press release said, adding that 92 scholars in the 2023-24 global cohorts were enrolled in their selected courses. Additionally, scholarships have so far been awarded to 52 Indian women who have undertaken one-year postgraduate studies in the UK.
Women with dependents are also invited to apply for the scholarship, as they will be offered additional support.
Application deadlines may vary depending on the university but will generally be between March and April 2024.
